"Good but not great"

This year, the New Zealand economy will be one of the faster growing among developed countries. But some of the factors that have been driving it are slowing down, particularly exports and tourism because of the renewed weakness of the global economy. Business journalist Rod Oram will assess the economy's current performance and take stock of government policy and corporate strategies aimed at accelerating growth.

Rod Oram has more than 30 years experience as an international business journalist. He has worked for various publications in Europe and North America, including the Financial Times of London.

He is a columnist for the Sunday Star-Times and Good Magazine; a regular broadcaster on radio and television; and a frequent public speaker on business, economics, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, in both New Zealand and global contexts. Rod was the winner in last years Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards, for the individual category; and

Susan St John, Associate Professor/Co Director

"How prepared is New Zealand for the ageing population: Can KiwiSaver save us?"

New Zealand Superannuation is coming under the spotlight as the baby boomers enter their twilight years. How well designed are New Zealand's policies?

Australia is often held up as the country that has done the right thing by taking a save as you go approach. What are the implications for the generation aged 20-40 years of looking to the Australian approach?

Susan has been involved in public policy issues in family tax, social security and superannuation both in New Zealand and internationally for over 25 years.
